“Midnight Bloom” is a signature work within my Stone Roses series — a collection of rose paintings created entirely with pure gemstone pigments. Each piece explores the meeting place between crystals and the rose, shadow and spirit, earth and heart. Painted exclusively with pure jet, Midnight Bloom embodies the alchemy of grief, acceptance, protection, and transformation. Jet, formed from ancient wood compressed over millennia, has long been revered as a stone of grounding, grief transmutation, into wisdom and guide. In the form of a rose, its energy becomes the story of beauty born from darkness — a heart that continues to open even in the deepest night. The petals of this rose carry the essence of shadow work, the resilience of the soul, and the quiet strength that emerges when we are held by memory, lineage, and love. It honors the parts of ourselves that bloom not in sunlight, but in stillness and shadow — the sacred feminine in her night aspect, powerful and protective. This work is dedicated to my mother, whose love remains the steady light within all my shadows. Her presence is woven into this piece — the unseen bloom that continues to guide my hands and my heart.
